The Southeastern Conference announced Monday that it has agreed on a five-year extension with the Georgia Dome to host the league's football championship game. The extension runs through the 2015 game.

"The Georgia Dome and the Georgia World Congress Center is a fitting host for our event," SEC commissioner Mike Slive said. "Their operations staff and leadership have been tremendous to work with, and we look forward to continuing the relationship."

After its first two title games were played at Birmingham's Legion Field in 1992-93, the league moved the matchup to the Georgia Dome. It has been sold out every year but once (1995) since, and last year's game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Florida drew 75,892 fans, the largest crowd ever to witness a sporting event in the facility.
