UTC guard Jasper Williams set to transfer

Sophomore guard Jasper Williams has informed University of Tennessee at Chattanooga coach John Shulman that he plans on transferring at the end of the semester.

Williams played in 31 games last season including two starts. But he averaged only 2.3 points per game and shot 32.9 percent from the floor.

He played as the back-up point guard and sparingly as a reserve shooting guard. His role on the 2010-11 team would likely decrease with the addition of Georgetown transfer Omar Wattad to the rotation.

Shulman said Williams, who attended Progressive Christian Academy outside Washington, D.C., should leave in good academic standing.

"He's going to be transferring," Shulman said this morning. "He wants to get closer to home. He's handed it the right way."
