Lady Flames win third NAIA title

DECATUR, Ala. - Beginning with a goal by freshman Danielle Ciabattone from Notre Dame High School with 1:32 to go before halftime, the Lee University women's soccer team defeated Hastings 3-0 Saturday night for the Lady Flames' third consecutive NAIA national championship.

It was the eighth goal of the year for Ciabattone.

Junior scoring leader Jamie Achten assisted on two second-half goals for the Lady Flames (22-2-1), senior midfielder Samantha Hare scoring her eighth of the season at 63:15 and freshman Ode Fulutudilu netting her ninth at 83:35. Kim Conrad joined Achten with an assist on that one.

Lee outshot Hastings (17-5-3) 14-6 and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Kristi Koudelka had four saves.

Achten wound up with 19 goals and 22 assists for the season, while freshmen Ashley Aragona and Katrine Korsgaard had 17 and 11 goals and 10 and 11 assists.
