Chattanooga: Title game headed to Frisco

Chattanooga's run as the home of the NCAA Division I Football Championship game has ended. The NCAA announced Friday that after 13 years at Finley Stadium, the game is headed to Frisco, Texas.

Following presentations in Indianapolis on Thursday by representatives from both Chattanooga and Frisco, the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee voted to move the game to Frisco. The Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet approved the committee's recommendation during a conference call Friday morning.

The Dallas suburb - Frisco is about 30 miles due north of Dallas - will host the next three games at Pizza Hut Park, home of FC Dallas of the MLS. The 23,000-seat stadium opened in 2005.

From the beginning of the bidding process, Frisco was regarded as a frontrunner to land the game because of its picturesque stadium and the high number of large corporations in the Dallas metropolitan area. In addition, Frisco hosted the NCAA men's College Cup, the soccer version of the Final Four, in 2008.
