Growing up, Kevin Revis used to come to Chattanooga for the entertainment. Now, the Evensville native is coming to wear the blue and gold.

Revis, a 6-foot-1, 275-pound offensive lineman, signed with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Thursday, becoming the third former Tennessee Volunteer to join the Mocs in as many years.

"I've grown up watching [the Mocs], and I've always had a lot of respect for them," Revis said. "I live 30 minutes away and there's not a movie theater or a mall or anything, so if we wanted to do anything we had go to Chattanooga. So I kind of feel like I've grown up in Chattanooga, too.

"I like all of the coaches, they've got a good thing going."

A former all-state offensive lineman at Rhea County, Revis said he had "seven or eight" offers, but ultimately chose UTC over Jacksonville State. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

"I prayed about it a lot, and that's where I felt my heart was leading me to go," he said.

Quarterback B.J. Coleman transferred from UT to his hometown school in 2009 and defensive end Chris Donald transferred to UTC last year.

Because the Mocs are replacing three three-year starters on the offensive line, Revis should be in the mix for a starting spot when preseason practice begins in August. He played in one game for the Vols last season as a redshirt freshman.

"I want to get in and compete," he said. "At UTC I have a chance to compete, and we also have a chance to compete for a championship.

"I know the city deserves a championship, and things have been on the way up the last couple of years since coach [Russ] Huesman got there."
