Revis visiting UTC after leaving Vols

Offensive lineman Kevin Revis is visiting the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga today as he searches for a new place to continue his football career.

Revis announced his decision to leave the University of Tennessee last week. He played in one game as a redshirt freshman in 2010 and he wasn't on the Volunteers' two-deep roster for their spring game.

"I've been praying about it a lot," he said Sunday, "and I'm just trying to find a nice place where I can go and compete and win some games."

The former Rhea County all-state lineman, listed at 6-foot-1, 275 pounds on UT's athletics website, said he is visiting the Mocs and has had conversations with several other schools, at both Division I levels.

He can play right away if he transfers down to the Football Championship Subdivision, but will have to sit a year and lose a year of eligibility if he transfers to another bowl subdivision program.

"I've been talking to a lot of places," he said, "... and I'll probably make my mind up sometime next week."

Revis said he's talked to Mocs quarterback B.J. Coleman, who also left UT looking for a chance to play, and knows several other UTC players. UTC's proximity to home, Revis said, will be a factor in his decision.

"It definitely does help," he said. "I'm very familiar with Chattanooga, and it's a great city and has great people."
