CANCUN, Mexico -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team had several chances to cap off a big comeback against Cincinnati on Friday, but the Lady Mocs couldn't get it done in the closing seconds.

The Bearcats escaped with a 51-50 win in the Cancun Challenge at the Moon Palace Resort after UTC couldn't find the basket with any of its five game-winning attempts down the stretch.

Kylie Lambert led UTC (2-3) with 16 points and 13 rebounds and hit two 3-pointers in the final five minutes as the Lady Mocs rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit. Whitney Hood added 14 points and five rebounds.

"It was a whole different attitude today as far as I'm concerned. We played Chattanooga basketball," UTC coach Wes Moore said in his postgame radio interview. "If we do that from here on out, we're going to get better and better and we're going to be a very good team."

Cincinnati (5-0) led by 12 in the first half before UTC cut the gap to 32-25 by the break. The Bearcats then opened the second half with a 5-0 run.

The Lady Mocs cut Cincinnati's lead to a point several times in the final few minutes but could never break through and take the lead. With the score 51-50 late, UTC missed two 3-pointers and three shots from inside the arc.

UTC had a 40-28 rebounding advantage that it couldn't take full advantage of because it hit just 19 of 51 shots in the game, including 4 of 19 3-point attempts.

Cincinnati was held 16 points below its scoring average of 67 per game. Dayeesha Hollins led the Bearcats with 20 points.

The Lady Mocs open Southern Conference play next Thursday at UNC Greensboro.
