Teter has 12 kills in Lady Mocs' loss to Davidson

Despite a match-high 12 kills by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Christina Teter, Davidson beat the visiting Lady Mocs 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 in Southern Conference volleyball Saturday.

Bridget Camacho had 31 assists and Aneisha Christie, Jennifer Kuroski and Heather Parman combined for 19 kills for UTC (5-19, 3-6). Freshman Melissa Green led the defense with 10 digs for the Lady Mocs, playing without junior libero Paula Passmore. They play today at Georgia Southern.

Caroline Brown led Davidson (13-10, 3-7) with 11 kills and 13 digs. Christine Perzinski, Tindall Sewell and Madison Benedict added 10, nine and eight kills, and Ariel Ley had 36 assists.

• At Babson Park, Fla., Bryan lost 28-26, 25-14, 25-22 to Webber International and fell 20-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-13 to Warner Southern before defeating Ave Maria 21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 27-25 in Webber's tournament.

Chelsea Breaden had 15 kills and Kerrie Reinhardt and Laura Adams had 13 apiece while Carolyn Evans added nine plus four solo blocks against Warner Southern, when Taylor Fink had 50 assists and 20 digs to go with 23 digs for Corrie Walker for Bryan (15-15). Fink had 25 assists and 13 digs, Walker had 18 digs and Evans had eight kills to lead the Lady Lions against Webber.

Fink had 38 assists and 12 digs and Walker made 19 digs in the Bryan victory, when Evans had 11 kills and Reinhardt, Breaden, Adams and Chelsie Blackburn each had nine.

Fink had 35 assists and 18 digs while Breaden and Reinhardt had 12 and 10 kills and Blackburn and Adams added nine apiece in the Lady Lions' 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 league loss Thursday at Columbia (S.C.) College. That left them 9-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

• At Decatur, Ga., Covenant won 25-17, 27-25, 25-19 over Piedmont and 25-8, 25-9, 25-13 over host Agnes Scott in Great South Athletic Conference matches.

Jessie Jakes had 13 kills and Emily Stewart and Erica Adams added 11 and 10 against Piedmont, when Kristin Dahlstrand had 37 assists and 10 digs and Stewart, Estes Carlson and Paige Cheney had 16, 12 and 10 digs for the Lady Scots (19-6, 8-1). Adams had 14 kills and Carlson made 13 digs against Agnes Scott, and Dahlstrand had 31 assists and nine digs.

• At Atlanta, Sewanee lost 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 to host Oglethorpe and 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 to Birmingham-Southern in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference divisional play.

Jamie Sue Wilson had seven kills and 14 digs, Kayla Sewell also made seven kills and Rachel Schuman had 19 assists against Oglethorpe for the Tigers (6-19, 0-13), and Schuman had 11 assists and Wilson had 14 digs with six kills against BSC.

n At Jefferson City, Tenn., Kristen Pickett from Cleveland had 48 assists and 11 digs and Rachel Harper from Boyd-Buchanan had 10 kills and 11 digs in Carson-Newman's 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 16-25, 18-16 South Atlantic Conference loss to visiting Newberry.

Berry beats Bryan

Berry College defeating visiting Bryan 2-0 in men's soccer Saturday.

Steven Weeks scored in the 11th minute and Daniel Wartner scored in the 69th from a Christian Fulbright assist for Berry (8-7-1), which outshot the Lions 15-7. Joe Courtwright made four saves for Bryan (5-5-2).

The Milligan women beat Covenant 3-0 with three second-half goals within an eight-minute span, by Grace Shawley, Lauren Lameier and Jacklyn Orange. Hannah Bales made three saves for Covenant (6-7-2).
