NORMAL, Ala. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team broke an 11-match losing streak with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 victory Tuesday night at Alabama A&M, as junior Christina Teter from Red Bank High School set a season high with 15 kills on a remarkable .737 attack percentage. She had only one attacking error. Heather Parman from GPS added 12 kills and Bridget Camacho recorded 33 assists for the Lady Mocs (2-11), while Paula Passmore made 16 digs. Clairissa Moore had 12 kills and Ashley Forman had 26 assists for A&M (4-14).
* BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Cat Neumann, Karina Ramos and Lauren McMillan made 12, 11 and 10 kills as Union College defeated visiting Bryan 29-27, 25-16, 25-22 in Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball Tuesday night. Kalia Yasak had 37 assists for the Lady Bulldogs (5-10, 4-1). Taylor Fink had 26 assists and 12 digs for Bryan (5-11, 3-1), which got seven kills from Carolyn Evans, six apiece from Kerrie Reinhardt and Chelsea Breaden and 14 digs from Corrie Walker. At Athens, Tenn., Reinhardt rose to 5-8, 2-3 in the AAC, with a 3-0 win over Tennessee Wesleyan (2-11, 0-6).
* The Covenant College volleyball team improved to 7-4 for the season with a 3-0 home win Tuesday against Oglethorpe University.
* HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Courtney Lawson from Red Bank and Kristen Pickett from Cleveland had 17 and 12 assists and 11 and 10 digs as Carson-Newman College lost 21-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-19 to Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference volleyball Tuesday night. Also for Carson-Newman (5-5, 0-4), Rachel Harper from Boyd-Buchanan had seven kills, one behind the team leader. Blaire Fowler had 20 kills and 14 digs for LMU (7-2, 3-1).
Golf
* WOLCOTT, Colo. -- UTC sophomore Marion Duvernay is tied for 10th individually after two rounds of the Golfweek Conference Challenge for NCAA women's golf teams, and the Mocs are 16th out of 18 teams. They are at 54-over-par 630, ahead of Penn and Western Michigan, after a 325 on a blustery Tuesday that was 20 strokes worse than their Monday aggregate. Oregon leads at 601 by five strokes over Ole Miss, Denver and Pepperdine. Duvernay shot a 77 and is at 149, while teammate Maria Juliana Loza is tied for 50th at 158 and Jordan Britt shares 61st place at 160. Ole Miss's Natalie Gleadall and Pepperdine's Grace Na share the lead at 143.
Soccer
* ATHENS, Tenn. -- Kimberly Key, Daelyn Swafford and Jordan Hendrix scored in a 14-minute span of game time beginning five minutes before halftime as Tennessee Wesleyan earned a 3-1 AAC women's soccer win over Bryan on Tuesday. Maddie Thomas assisted on the last two goals, Swafford also helping on Hendrix's, for the Lady Bulldogs (3-4-1, 1-0-1). Kaitlyn Bryant scored from a Liz Ponto assist in the final minute for Bryan (3-4-1, 0-2), which was outshot 24-6. The Lady Lions' Stephanie Gagnon, the reigning AAC defensive player of the week, made 12 saves. The sophomore from Orlando, Fla., had 18 and seven saves and gave up just one goal in Bryan's two games last week.
* Tennessee Wesleyan goalkeeper Josh Leader was the AAC men's soccer defensive player of the week for his work in the Bulldogs' two games last week. Leader, a 6-foot-4 sophomore from England, made 11 saves and allowed only one goal.
* The Covenant College women's soccer team dropped to 1-5-1 for the season with a 1-0 loss Monday night at Birmingham-Southern. Bailey Kimbell scored in the 71st minute for the Panthers (2-3-1). Hannah Bales made six saves for Covenant.
Field Hockey
* Sewanee sophomore Caroline Williams was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference field hockey defensive player of the week. Williams was a key player in the shutout of Transylvania last Saturday. "Caroline has been a very consistent player for us in the backfield," coach Michele Dombrowski said in a Sewanee release. "Her impeccable timing on the jab and her acceleration through interceptions allow the players in front of her to confidently go on transition." The Tigers are 2-1 and have allowed an average of one goal per match. They will host Hendrix and Rhodes in SCAC matches at 4 p.m. CDT Friday and noon CDT Sunday with a "Stick It to Cancer" theme. Sewanee wrist/sweatbands and baked goods will be for sale at both games and the football game Saturday to raise money for cancer research; donations will be accepted as well.
