KNOXVILLE -- Tennessee officially confirmed Derrick Ansley as its sixth and final new assistant coach on Friday, a day after the was reported by the Times Free Press and multiple other media outlets.

Ansley, who was hired as Central Florida's defensive backs coach in December, will coach the Volunteers' cornerbacks, according to the school's release. Following his playing career at Troy and five years at Division III Huntingdon College in Alabama, the 31-year-old joined Alabama's staff as a graduate assistant 2009 and spent two seasons under new UT defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri.

"Derrick is a bright young coach with an incredibly high ceiling in this profession," UT coach Derek Dooley said in the release. "He worked with Sal Sunseri for two seasons and will be able to bring some systematic continuity to the defensive staff."

In addition to his duties as recruiting coordinator, Terry Joseph coached UT's entire secondary last season. It's expected he'll coach safeties, though UT did not specify in the release.
