University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball coach Wes Moore said Sunday he won't know the status of injured center Faith Dupree's left knee until today. He didn't sound like someone expecting her to return anytime soon.
Dupree was injured in the first half of the Lady Mocs' 81-48 blowout of East Tennessee State on Saturday night at McKenzie Arena. Moore said she had an MRI Sunday and will meet with her doctor today.
"We'll wait and see, but it doesn't sound good," a somber Moore said.
The Lady Mocs (3-0) head to California on Tuesday for the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic at St. Mary's College, near San Francisco. They play Portland State on Friday and St. Mary's on Saturday.
UTC was effectively rotating the 6-foot-3 Dupree and 6-3 Ashlen Dewart in the post. Dupree was averaging 9.0 points per game prior to the ETSU game and Dewart was averaging 10.0.
"We had a nice little 1-2 combination there, so it's definitely going to change things," Moore said of Dupree's absence. "We're probably going to have to make some personnel decisions, which may mean people playing some different positions. It's definitely going to impact us."
After the California trip, UTC opens Southern Conference play on Nov. 29 against Wofford.
