Backup: TERRELL ROBINSON, R-Jr., 6-3, 200

Jacob Huesman took over as the Mocs' starter in week two of last season and performed well as a redshirt freshman with an offense to run. He led the Mocs with 904 rushing yards and 1,712 passing yards and finished fourth in the voting for the Jerry Rice Award, which goes to the top freshman in the FCS.

Huesman has solidified himself as the starter with a good spring and preseason. Terrell Robinson is the No. 2 QB while also being the Mocs' top returning wide receiver with 40 catches in nine games last season. Robinson had limited snaps in camp, but he looked very sharp when he was running the offense.

The No. 3 quarterback will be a true freshman, either Tyler Roberson or Alejandro Bennifield. Roberson may be slightly ahead, but the Mocs are hoping to redshirt both players.

Keon Williams and Marquis Green have split the first-team carries in the preseason. The powerful Williams (6-foot, 225 pounds) is running like a power back - using "good pad level," in coach talk - and looks like he's poised for a big season. Both Williams and the smaller, speedy Green will be much more involved than they were in 2012, when they combined for 181 yards on 75 carries. Green will be used out of the backfield and also in the slot as a receiver. Kenny Huitt came on strong at the end of 2012 and led all of UTC's running backs with 288 yards on 57 carries.

Among all position groups, the receivers needed to improve the most from 2012. Robinson played just nine games at the position last season and led the group with 40 catches. He is a better-trained and more confident wideout after working at the position in the spring and summer. Faysal Shafaat led all SoCon tight ends last season with 37 receptions, and his size, hands and speed make him tough for any defense to cover.

This is a veteran group led by senior right guard Kevin Revis, junior center Patrick Sutton and sophomore left guard Synjen Herren. Sutton is the only offensive player who has started every game the past two seasons, and the guards on either side of him are experienced and mighty feisty. Hunter Dockery started the last seven games at left tackle in 2012, in place of the injured Brandon Morgan, and now slides over to right tackle - a spot held the past four seasons by Adam Miller. Morgan (11 career starts) began camp as the starting left tackle but was replaced by redshirt freshman Corey Levin after the first scrimmage.

UTC's offensive averages in 2012: 25.5 points per game - 349.8 yards per game
