CHARLESTON, S.C. - There was one positive from Ashlen Dewart picking up two quick fouls Saturday: She had plenty of energy in the second half.

Dewart scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, doing most of her damage after halftime, in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's 73-58 basketball win over the College of Charleston at TD Arena.

UTC remains in first place in the Southern Conference with four games remaining. The Lady Mocs (22-3, 15-1) have won 12 straight games and play at Georgia Southern on Monday.

"We did a much better job against the 3 [-point shot] and not giving up offensive rebounds in the second half," UTC coach Wes Moore said. "That was the difference."

Charleston (11-13, 7-8) was 4-for-9 from 3-point range in the first half and scored 14 second-chance points. After halftime, the Cougars were 0-for-6 from 3 and had just two second-chance points.

Off to a good start with four points and five rebounds in the first couple of minutes of the game, Dewart picked up her second foul and went to the bench with 16:24 to play in the half. Faith Dupree took over for Dewart at center and scored 13 points in 12 minutes.

The game was tied at 39 at halftime and Charleston had a 21-19 rebounding advantage. It was a much different story in the second half as UTC dominated the boards, outrebounding the Cougars 34-17 in the final 20 minutes. Five Lady Mocs had at least five rebounds.

Fresh after barely playing in the first half, Dewart scored UTC's first 10 points of the second. She led the Lady Mocs to a double-digit lead they pretty much maintained in their final SoCon game against Charleston, which is headed to the Colonial Athletic Association this summer.

Ka'Vonne Towns had a head issue and did not play, but Moore said she could suit up against the Eagles.
