UGA's Flournoy-Smith booked for false report

Georgia's football program suffered its first offseason arrest this weekend when sophomore tight end Ty Flournoy-Smith was booked on a misdemeanor charge of filing a false police report.

Flournoy-Smith filed a report last week in which he claimed some of his textbooks had been stolen. Once university police determined that was not the case and that he had cashed them in, the 6-foot-3, 237-pounder from Moultrie was booked Friday night at 10:56 and released Saturday morning at 12:41 on $1,000 bond.

"You live, and you learn," Flournoy-Smith posted on Twitter not long after being released.

He played in eight of the 14 games this past season, mostly on special teams, but recorded no statistics. He will enter spring practice third on the depth chart behind fifth-year senior Arthur Lynch and redshirt sophomore Jay Rome.

Spring practice is set to start Saturday.

The Bulldogs did not have any reported offseason arrests in 2011 but had several last year, most notably tailback Isaiah Crowell (felony weapons possession), cornerbacks Sanders Commings (domestic violence) and Branden Smith (marijuana possession) and outside linebacker Chase Vasser (driving under the influence).
