Two of the nation's top quarterback prospects announced Friday that they are heading to the Southeastern Conference.

David Cornwell of Norman, Okla., and Jacob Park of Goose Creek, S.C., committed within an hour of each other, with Cornwell picking Alabama and Park tabbing Georgia. Rivals.com rates Cornwell as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback nationally in the 2014 class, with Park checking in at No. 9.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Cornwell told Rivals.com that he is impressed with how Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban and his staff have developed AJ McCarron into a championship quarterback.

"People say they aren't a passing school," Cornwell said. "You look at the numbers, and they beat everyone so bad in the first half that they really don't have to pass the ball that much."

Cornwell threw for 2,742 yards and 27 touchdowns last season and rushed for 755 yards and six scores. Alabama now has 11 commitments, and its class is ranked No. 7 by Rivals.com.

Georgia's class of 10 commitments is ranked 14th by Rivals.com after the landing of Park, who threw for 2,481 yards and 24 touchdowns. The 6-4, 210-pounder also rushed for 595 yards and five touchdowns.

Wilkerson has surgery

Georgia confirmed Friday that freshman cornerback Reggie Wilkerson will miss the upcoming season after tearing his ACL and his meniscus during voluntary pass drills earlier this week. Wilkerson underwent a procedure Friday to repair his meniscus and will have a second procedure for his ACL.
