University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior forward Taylor Hall made it 2-for-2 Tuesday, honored as the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for the second time in a row. She averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals in two games last week. She had 17 points and a career-high five assists in UTC's win over Belmont on Sunday. The Mocs (2-1) host UAB (2-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday at McKenzie Arena.

• Corey Billingsley scored 24 points and Valentino Thomas and Brice Sharp added 14 and 11 as Lee University defeated visiting Bryan College 66-58 in men's basketball Tuesday night in Cleveland. Tyquan Roberts grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots and Stedmon Ford made four steals for Lee (3-0), which was 1-of-17 on 3-point shots. NAIA Division II member Bryan (2-5) continued to show improvement in its halftime lead and relatively close final margin against the NCAA Division II program, as Robert Troino scored 16 points with three 3s and Brandon Cole contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds -- nine on the offensive backboards. Bryan Landers scored 11 points for the Lions.

• Gadsden State's women's basketball team is an NJCAA Division I program that went to 4-0 on Monday with a 109-41 win over visiting Georgia Northwestern Tech from NJCAA Division III. Shauntece Catlin scored 23 points and Calishia Parker, Taylor Frazier and Taylor Adams tallied 17, 16 and 14 for Gadsden State, Catlin shooting 10-of-15 on field goals. Alisha Bridges scored 10 and Sierra Smith added nine for the Lady Bobcats (1-4).

Auto Racing

• Riley Hickman of Ooltewah clinched the 2013 Southern All-Stars dirt-track points championship with a fifth-place finish Saturday night in the 25th annual Gobbler race at his home track, Cleveland Speedway. It was his first SAS title and the first for an area driver since Rex Richey in 2001. Hickman also drove in the Joe Lee Johnson Memorial race for limited late models and won it.


• Sewanee senior Ellie Quinn and freshman Shelby Meckstroth were first-team All-Southern Athletic Association women's soccer selections for 2013, and teammates Olivia Glascoe, Elizabeth Eidson and Jamie Samociuk received honorable mention. Junior Ford Emerson represented Sewanee on the men's All-SAA second team with Holden Foster and Brian Maloney earning honorable mention. Emerson led the 8-8-2 Tigers with eight goals and added an assist. Meckstroth had 12 goals and five game-winning scores for the female Tigers, who went 11-6-1, and Quinn provided leadership and solid all-around play as a defensive midfielder.
