Georgia's 2014 football signing class

POSITION BREAKDOWN• Quarterbacks: 1• Running backs: 2• Receivers, tight ends: 5• Offensive linemen: 4• Defensive linemen: 3• Linebackers: 1• Defensive backs: 4• Athletes: 1NAMES YOU KNOWGeorgia's 2014 signing class is headlined by the tailback tandem of Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. It is likely that neither will redshirt later this year, with 247Sports.com national analyst J.C. Shurburtt projecting that this tandem will be superior to the 2012 signing pair of Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall. The biggest defensive grab was defensive end/outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter, who somehow compiled 40 tackles for loss this past season for his state-championship Norcross High team.NAMES YOU WILL KNOWThe player with the best chance of early playing time could be tight end Jeb Blazevich of Charlotte. The Bulldogs only have two returning tight ends on scholarship following the graduation of Arthur Lynch, and the most experienced returnee, Jay Rome, had an injury-plagued 2013 season.Georgia's cornerback spot opposite Damian Swann this past season was a revolving door, so Malkom Parrish and junior-college transfer Shattle Fenteng could get a chance at playing time as well. Who could not pull for someone named Shattle Fenteng, anyway?NAMES YOU WILL MISSOhio State swiped the Peach State's top player, Hinesville linebacker Raekwon McMillan, and the Bulldogs were too little, too late in their pursuit of McDonough defensive end Andrew Williams, who signed with Auburn. The only commitment the Bulldogs lost down the stretch was safety Kendall Gant of Lake Gibson, Fla., a three-star prospect who was not going to qualify and signed Wednesday with Marshall.QUOTE"Every player, really, that we've signed since we've been here from North Carolina or South Carolina has had a high percentage of being very productive players for us. We're going to continue to recruit great players, and we're going to continue to recruit this state, but you're never going to make everybody happy in this state."- Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo
