Multiple media outlets were reporting Wednesday night that Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier is leaving the Crimson Tide for the same position at Michigan.

Nussmeier just finished his second season on Nick Saban's staff, overseeing senior quarterback AJ McCarron and his runner-up finish in the Heisman Trophy. In Nussmeier's first season with Alabama, the Crimson Tide set program records for yards (6,237), points (542), touchdowns (68) and passing touchdowns (31).

Michigan coach Brady Hoke on Wednesday announced that offensive coordinator Al Borges would not be back for a fourth season. The Wolverines were 42nd in total offense during the 2011 season, when they won the Sugar Bowl over Virginia Tech, but finished 87th this season.

CBS reported that Nussmeier's departure could open the possibility of former Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin heading to Tuscaloosa as his successor. Kiffin visited Alabama last month, offering offensive pointers to the staff.
