Alabama junior tailback Kenyan Drake, the primary backup to T.J. Yeldon for most of last season, was arrested early Saturday morning on the misdemeanor charge of obstructing governmental operations.

"I'm aware of the situation with Kenyan and will handle it once I've had a chance to review all of the information and talk to the appropriate people," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in a released statement.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Drake's vehicle was parked near Kennedy's Bar, where officers were investigating a shooting.

"While investigators were working on the crime scene, Kenyan Adam Drake told officers his vehicle was parked inside the crime scene and he wanted to get his vehicle," the police department said in a release. "Officers told him he would not be able to get his vehicle until the scene was released by Tuscaloosa County Homicide. Drake became upset and went through the crime scene tape and entered the crime scene after being told not to by officers.

"Officers immediately took the suspect into custody and charged him with obstructing governmental operations."

Bond for Drake was set at $1,000, which he posted.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pounder from Powder Springs, Ga., rushed for 694 yards and 7.5 yards a carry last season, surpassing 100 yards in routs of Kentucky and Arkansas. He was bypassed on the depth chart during Sugar Bowl practices by Derrick Henry and did not play in Alabama's 45-31 loss to Oklahoma.

Drake was held out of last season's opener against Virginia Tech for undisclosed reasons and was suspended for rules violations before the Western Carolina game late in the 2012 season.

In other news Saturday regarding the Crimson Tide, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Brandon Hill posted on Twitter that he had been released from his scholarship. The 6-6, 370-pounder was an early enrollee in 2013 after a year at Hargrave Military Academy.
