The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has a new radio home for its football and basketball programs.
UTC and Learfield Sports' Mocs Sport Properties made the announcement Tuesday that a five-year radio agreement, which begins this football season, has been reached to carry the games from all three programs and all three coaches' shows on 96.1 FM The Beat. They have been broadcast on ESPN The Zone (105.1) in recent years.
"We anticipate this will be a seamless transition as we introduce the Mocs over the airwaves on our new Clear Channel affiliate," UTC athletic director David Blackburn said. "Learfield Sports does a tremendous job identifying the best way to align radio affiliates with our objectives and our fan base. We anticipate a great run with Clear Channel and only expect the utmost quality broadcasts and programming for Mocs fans."
The partnership will run through the 2018-19 season. In the event of a conflicting broadcast, Clear Chanel Radio's 98.1 The Lake will carry the UTC athletics programming.
UTC junior quarterback Jacob Huesman has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of the most prestigious off-the-field honors in college football.
Among Huesman's community works that helped lead to his nomination were his volunteer work with the Special Olympics, recruiting students to register as bone marrow matches and taking part in the Friends of Jaclyn adoption of a team captain with cancer.
Through the Good Works Team, Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association recognize a select group of college football players who have made a commitment to being active in making their communities better. Of the 182 nominees, a finalist list of 22 -- made up of 11 players from the FBS and a combined 11 from FCS, Divisions II, III and NAIA -- will be named in September.
Past members of the Good Works Team include Peyton and Eli Manning, Robert Griffin III and Tim Tebow.
