ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Justin Taylor had 26 points as the Western Carolina women's basketball team knocked off No. 2 seed Furman, 75-70, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference tournament Saturday.

The Lady Catamounts (15-16) were 11-for-12 from the free-throw line in the final 2:05 after the game was tied at 64. Rena Wakama added 18 points, while Erika Joseph and Shauna Terry had 11 each.

Sarah Durdaller scored 19 to lead the Paladins (18-12) but missed a tying 3-pointer with about 10 seconds to go. Holli Wilkins added 15 points and Brittany Hodges had 10. Point guard Brigit Morrissey had 13 assists with nine points.

The Phoenix shot 60 percent from the field in the second half and withstood a Maryah Sydnor 3-point miss at the buzzer to move into the semifinals against UTC.

Lauren Brown and Kelsey Harris had 14 points apiece to lead Elon (15-15). The Mountaineers, who shot 34 percent from the field for the game, received 42 of their 56 points from three players: Sydnor, Katie Mallow and Keke Cooper. Mallow added seven assists to her 15 points.

* Davidson 55, Samford 42: Laura Murray had 26 points and eight rebounds, and the Wildcats led for the final 37 minutes of the game in getting the quarterfinal victory.

Dakota Dukes scored 14 points and Rachel Piles pulled in 10 rebounds as Davidson hit seven 3-pointers and was 19-for-27 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs shot 24.6 percent from the field. They were led by Gordon Lee graduate Kassidy Blevins' 13 points.
