The Virginia Commonwealth athletic department confirms that former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball coach Will Wade has become their new basketball coach.

The Times Free Press reported late Monday night that Wade had accepted the head coaching job, although the announcement didn't become official until today.

Wade held a players-only meeting today to inform his players and staff of the decision. He will be introduced at VCU at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Wade was 40-25 in his two seasons as UTC's head coach, including a 22-10 mark this past season. He compiled a 27-7 mark in Southern Conference play, and was the 2013-14 conference coach of the year.

This is a developing story. Stay with the Times Free Press for more details.
