University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football player Cedric Nettles, who will be a junior this season, turned himself into authorities Tuesday after accusations of stealing from a Signal Mountain Walmart on March 22.

He has been charged with theft under $500, and is alleged to have stolen a LG DVD player as well as some grocery items.

The charge is a misdemeanor. He is to appear in court on May 6.

"We're aware of this, and are dealing with it. He has been suspended indefinitely," associate athletic director Jay Blackman said.

Nettles was the starting strong safety for the Mocs in 2014, finishing third on the team with 77 tackles, including five for loss.
