KNOXVILLE -- Rick Barnes recently suggested that the two-week break in Tennessee's basketball schedule would allow the Volunteers to address Robert Hubbs's health.

That turned out to be the case.

Hubbs, the junior averaging better than 15 points per game for Tennessee this season, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday, and his timetable for a return, according to a program release, is "undetermined."

He will not practice this week and is considered doubtful for Tennessee's game at Butler on Dec. 12.

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said late Tuesday morning that Hubbs was meeting with doctors what to do about lingering pain in his knee, which was bothered him and cost him practice time.

After playing seven games in 15 days, the Vols had a window in which to address Hubbs's situation.

"He actually came through this (stretch) pretty good, when you think about it," Barnes said. "He missed a half against GW and that hurt us, when he got poked in the eye. That obviously got us out of sync when we were playing pretty well. He's with the doctors today, and I think we've got a great medical staff here.

"It'll get down to what he and the doctors and the family feels is the right thing."

Hubbs, a former five-star recruit, is Tennessee's third-leading scorer behind Kevin Punter (22.3) and Armani Moore (15.6). He's shooting nearly 49 percent from the field. His 31.7-minute average is the second-highest on the team.

The 6-foot-4 wing scored 19 points against Marshall, 18 against UNC Asheville and 17 against Gardner-Webb, and he's scored at least 13 points in every game this season.
