Jenna Adams had 20 points and 16 rebounds as Tennessee Wesleyan beat Cumberland University 53-48 in a basketball battle of Lady Bulldogs on Saturday in Lebanon, Tenn.

Wesleyan, ranked No. 14 in NAIA Division II, improved to 15-1 as Aremka Booker scored 12 points. Chelsey Hall scored 17 points and Jalita Fason had 12 points and eight rebounds for NAIA Division I member Cumberland (9-6), which got 11 rebounds from Brittany Lawson.

The Wesleyan men's team dropped to 6-8 with an 88-84 loss at St. Catharine. Charles White had 24 points, Dante Turnipseed scored 18 and Leland Robinson and Stephen Kite Jr. tallied 16 each for the Bulldogs, while Ben Vozzola had 29 points with 13-for-13 free-throw shooting and seven rebounds for their Kentucky hosts.

Those games were nonconference contests, but in Appalachian Athletic Conference play the Union College women are in a three-way tie for second behind Wesleyan after downing Bryan 61-54. And the Union men (12-4, 6-1) beat Bryan 74-58 as Fitzgerald White scored 18 points.

Mike Tomlin led Bryan's Lions (9-6, 5-3) with 14 points, and Jeff Long and Brandon Cole added 12 and 10.

Bryan's Megan Billingsby led everyone in the women's game at Barbourville, Ky., with 18 points, while Kristin Lane had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Lions (11-5, 6-3). Angie Lawrence led Union's Lady Bulldogs (10-4, 7-2) with 13 points.

Lee University lost a Gulf South Conference doubleheader at Delta State in Cleveland, Miss., 54-49 in the women's game and 64-61 in the men's. Shelby Brown off the bench led the Lady Flames (8-4, 5-4) in defeat with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Carrie Cheeks had 11 points and three blocked shots and matched Christina Johnson with nine rebounds. Chelsey Rhodes scored 19 points and Rhandi Ball grabbed 14 rebounds for Delta State (7-6, 5-4).

The Flames (9-5, 4-5) lost despite 26 points from Chattanoogan Stedmon Ford, who made six of his nine 3-point shots. Cory Billingsley added 13 points. Alister Chisholm had 20 points and seven rebounds for Delta State (9-6, 6-3), and LaQuavius Cotton contributed 16 points and four assists.

Covenant's teams lost their USA South games at Greensboro (N.C.) College, 82-51 in the men's matchup and 66-53 in the women's. Haley Soles had 19 points with five 3s for the Lady Scots (0-12, 0-4), and Aleigha Williams had 10 points and seven rebounds. Daniel Garrett with eight points in 13 minutes was the leading scorer for the Scots (2-11, 1-3), who used 15 players.
