UTC women rally to win at Furman

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team overcame a poor shooting night Monday and found a way to pull off a 47-40 win over Furman and stay unbeaten in Southern Conference play.
The Mocs (14-3, 2-0 SoCon) trailed by 12 points four minutes into the second half, but sophomore guard Chelsey Shumpert turned three straight turnovers into points to spark the rally.
Senior Ka'Vonne Towns' 3-pointer with 3:27 left in the game gave the Mocs a 43-40 lead, and UTC held on and hit their free throws to preserve the win.
Shumpert led UTC with 15 points, while Alicia Payne, Jasmine Joyner and Towns each had eight points.
The Paladins (11-6, 0-2) were led by SoCon preseason player of the year Brittany Hodges with 15 points, and sophomore guard Whitney Bunn had 12 points.
