Bowling

* Friendship Christian School trailed McCallie by six points two-thirds of the way through the TSSAA Division II East-Middle Region bowling final Tuesday at Smyrna, Tenn., but won 15-12 with a 7-1 final game and a 52-point overall pin differential. "Tough fight all around," McCallie coach Josh Deitrick said in an email. Both teams will return to Smyrna for the state tournament Jan. 22-24. Walker Valley's boys and girls both will represent Region 3 in the Division I state tournament, along with McMinn County's boys and Soddy-Daisy's girls, but McMinn's upset win over the Mustangs in the region final means that currently No. 2 ranked Walker Valley must visit No. 1 Columbia Central in a sectional match.
