The third class of Cleveland State Community College's Athletic Hall of Fame will be honored on Feb. 7 at a 10:30 a.m. brunch at the Mountain View Inn in Cleveland and again that afternoon between the school's basketball games against Chattanooga State.

After classes including more than 20 inductees the first two years, the 2015 festivities will focus on 18 people who were significant for the Cougars and Lady Cougars in the 1970s and 1980s.

The former Cleveland State athletes being inducted are Jon Miller, Morris Lyons, Ed Thacker, Anita Myers Barker and Avis Smith from basketball; Jill Ross and Lisa Partain Elrod from softball; Louis Royal from tennis; Steve Myers and Buster Goins from golf; and Mike Connolly, Dale Scott, Gary Rominger and Wes Ivey from baseball.

Former men's basketball coaches Tom Loss and Dan Trotter and former softball and tennis coach Bob Taylor also will be inducted, and Mark Smith will be recognized for meritorious service to the school's athletic program, according to the announcement release.

"I am really pleased that we will be able to build on the past two years' Hall of Fame classes," athletic director Mike Policastro said in the release, "by recognizing these individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their collegiate and professional careers."
