Darin VanHorn has been added to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball coaching staff.

VanHorn is a 2013 Penn State graduate who was the men's volleyball team's travel manager for four years and did the same for the women's team for two seasons, which included the Nittany Lions' run to the 2013 NCAA championship.

He was the head coach of the Penn State women's club volleyball team for two seasons and played on the men's club team throughout his time at PSU.

He spent last season as a volunteer assistant at Virginia.

"Darin is a tremendous fit for our staff," UTC coach Travis Filar said in a Friday release. "Finding that right fit for our program and staff was the major focus during the process. I believe we found the right person, most importantly - one who will positively impact our program and is a coach on the rise in our profession."

The Mocs begin their season Aug. 28-29 in the Chattanooga Classic at Maclellan Gym.

"We are getting the team culture where we want it," Filar said. "A committed, confident, hard-working group. Darin also has worked with fantastic coaches and in really strong programs. His positive energy and experiences add a lot to our culture."
