KNOXVILLE -- Tennessee's offense could get a couple of key pieces back for Saturday night's showdown with Missouri's stingy defense.

Guard Jashon Robertson and wide receiver Preston Williams both participated in Tuesday evening's practice, at least during the portion open to the media, and that could bode well for their potential return in Columbia against the Tigers.

The Volunteers practiced in shorts as they continued preparations for the Tigers.

Robertson hasn't been 100 percent since August, when he missed a portion of preseason training camp with an ankle injury. He was hurt in the first quarter against Georgia and missed the Alabama game the following week.

He returned at Kentucky, but re-aggravated the injury on the first series and hasn't played since.

"He's a great football player," offensive coordinator Mike DeBord said after practice. "And if he's healthy, he'll be playing. We'll see how this week goes. That'll be a deal at the end of the week where we decide what we're going to do that way at that position."

The Vols have gone with Mack Crowder at left guard since Robertson was hurt in Lexington even after starting freshman Jack Jones at right guard at Alabama when Robertson wasn't available.

Williams hasn't been available since he caught two passes for 41 yards against Georgia.

He suffered a hamstring injury in practice the week of the Alabama and hasn't played or practiced much since, but he seemed to be moving around fairly well on Tuesday.

"He was good. I was pleasantly surprised," receivers coach Zach Azzanni said. "Any time a freshman sits out a month right when he starts doing well, it's almost like you start over, unfortunately. He actually had a really good day today and was into it.

"Was he where he was when he left? Not yet, but he hasn't played football in a month, not even practiced. It was a good day, so we'll see how the week goes."

Receiver Marquez North has rarely played the last six games with a lingering back issue he suffered in the first half at Florida in September.

North has warmed up for the past couple of games, but he's either not played or played sparingly. After sitting out two games, he caught one pass for 8 yards at Alabama. He missed the Kentucky and South Carolina and played two snaps against North Texas.

"It wasn't like he came out there and played (last week)," Azzanni said. "We just wanted to see and he wanted to see what he could do. That's a work in progress. I don't know if he'll be able to go Saturday. We'll see. That's kind of a day-to-day thing still."
