Davenport leads volleyball Mocs over Citadel

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team bounced back from its first loss in 12 matches and won 3-0 at The Citadel on Saturday.

Allie Davenport had 14 kills with a .636 hitting percentage and Lauren Greenspoon registered 42 assists in the 25-19, 26-24, 25-12 Southern Conference victory for the Mocs (16-3, 5-1). Briana Reid had 12 kills, Kristy Wieser downed nine with a .533 percentage, Miranda Elpers served three aces and freshman Emily Plumlee had seven kills, including the match-ender, with a .417 percentage.

* At Cleveland, Tenn., Silvia Sartori had 16 kills and Hillary Hoffpauir and Haley Foote set 17 assists apiece as Lee University won 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17) in a Gulf South Conference match against Mississippi College.

Catherine Conley and Emily Bento each had nine kills, Blaire Beamer had eight and Brooke Wilsman added seven, plus nine digs, for Lee (8-7, 4-6), while Stephanie Hernandez had 17 digs and Emily Philpott served three aces.

* At Dayton, Tenn., Bryan College won 3-1 (25-13, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22) against Appalachian Athletic Conference visitor Milligan but lost 3-2 (25-19, 16-25, 26-24, 18-25, 15-12) to Cumberlands in a nonconference match. Bryan, which is 15-13 overall, 10-3 in the AAC, had 14 kills on a .609 hitting percentage from Kara Stamper and 10 kills on .471 hitting from Rachel Mosley in Friday's 3-0 win over Montreat, with 31 assists and 11 digs from Shelby Grace Enochs.

* At Athens, Tenn., Tennessee Wesleyan prevailed 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-22) in AAC play against Montreat. TWC is 8-10 overall, 6-5 and tied for fourth place in the AAC.

* At Lookout Mountain, host Covenant edged Averett 3-2 and swept Ferrum 3-0 in USA South matches.

Ginny Moore had 28 kills and 27 digs and Schuyler Moore had 41 assists, eight kills and 22 digs for the Lady Scots (9-9, 7-1) in the 23-25, 27-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-10 thriller, while Ariana Buchanan and Jaclyn Stuart had 15 and 12 assists and Chelsea VanDyk served three aces. In the 25-9, 25-20, 25-21 defeat of Ferrum, Ginny Moore had seven aces with 10 kills and 14 digs, Morgan Opgenorth also had 10 kills, Schuyler Moore had 28 assists and 12 digs and Buchanan had 12 digs, too.

* At Rome, Ga., Katie O'Rourke had 18 kills as Berry (15-5, 6-3) beat visiting Sewanee 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) in Southern Athletic Association play.

Diamond Stewart led Sewanee (9-9, 2-6) with 12 kills, while Walker Buxton had 20 assists and Sara Jayne Sutton had 12 digs.

* At Rossville, Walters State beat Georgia Northwestern 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-15) in a junior college regional. The Lady Bobcats (0-13) end their season Monday by hosting Hiwassee at 6 p.m.
