Former Red Bank offensive lineman Myles Smith, now a freshman at East Tennessee State University, was hospitalized Sunday after a seizure at practice.

The Johnson City Press reported Sunday evening that an ambulance and fire truck were seen at the team's practice field in the afternoon. The ambulance left the field with its siren on.

ETSU issued a statement, saying "EMS did respond to a member of the ETSU football team following Sunday afternoon's regularly scheduled practice. The student, who appeared to be in medical distress, was transported to Johnson City Medical Center. No further information is available at this time."

That player was later identified as Smith, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound freshman. He was a four-year letterwinner in football at Red Bank High School, while also competing in track and field and baseball. He was twice named all-state and earned Times Free Press Best of Preps football honors as a senior.

A source said Monday morning that Smith had been sedated and had not suffered any more seizures since practice.
