The Mocs received their third commit for the 2016 season Tuesday when 6-foot-2 quarterback Zack Weatherly pledged to the program.

Weatherly, a senior at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville, has completed 65 percent of his passes the past two years for 3,710 yards and 50 touchdowns. He had 1,765 yards and 29 scores as a junior while adding 557 yards rushing and nine scores rushing.

Through four games in the 2015 season, he has thrown for 752 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions while rushing for 115 yards and three more scores for the Class 3A top-ranked Lions.

The three-star quarterback chose the Mocs over offers from Appalachian State, San Diego State and Tennessee-Martin. He joins Farragut defensive end Cole Strange and Boyd-Buchanan tight end Jack Keebler as commits for the 2016 year.

His dad, Jim Weatherly, was an All-Southeastern Conference and honorable mention All-American quarterback at Ole Miss, that won a national championship with the Rebels in 1962. In his post-college career, Jim became a famous songwriter that wrote numerous hits, including Gladys Knight and the Pips' "Midnight Train to Georgia."
