Tennessee Wesleyan moved up to No. 8 in the NAIA baseball poll Tuesday and then knocked off unanimous No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett, 13-8, in Athens. Cody Stroud was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Paolo Montezuma scored three runs for TWC (26-9). Pedro Barrios and Luis Estevez each had two RBIs, and Wardy Polanco homered and tripled. Gwinnett is 38-2. Bryan College (28-9) rose five spots to 15th in the poll.

* Kevin Victoriano was 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs as Tusculum edged visiting Lee 11-10 in NCAA Division II baseball Tuesday night. Geremy Walton tripled, doubled and drove in three for Lee (20-14), while Kyle Briner homered and Luke Toms had two RBIs.

* Luke Harvey was 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs and Perry Rigby was 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored as the Covenant College baseball team beat visiting Oglethorpe 15-3 for the Scots' seventh win in eight games. Alex Kerr homered and singled and matched Trenton Nobles with two RBIs for Covenant (18-14).

Golf

* The UTC women's golf team finished seventh Tuesday in the final tournament of their regular season - the Web.com Intercollegiate at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The Mocs shot 315 for an 896 total, with Emily McLennan finishing 11th individually at 219. Megan Woods and Monica San Juan wound up at 224 and 225 with Cris Perez at 230. Middle Tennessee State won the team title at 873, and the Blue Raiders' Avery George from Walker Valley tied for eighth at 218 with Jenna Burris from St. Andrew's-Sewanee at 228.

* The UTC men finished 13th out of 16 teams in the Old Waverly Collegiate tournament at West Point, Miss., with a final-round 308 Tuesday and a 907 total. McNeese State won with an 866, six shots better than runner-up Ole Miss. UTC's Wes Gosselin closed with a 77 and tied for 14th individually at 220, while Andrew Weathers shot a 71 and tied teammate Lake Johnson at 226.

* Lee University finished second out of 18 teams Tuesday in the women's Argonaut Invitational golf tournament at Pensacola, Fla., and fifth at 889 in the men's at nearby Gulf Breeze. The Lady Flames shot 925, nine behind nationally second-ranked Rollins, while Bernadette Little finished third in a three-way playoff for medalist honors at 226 and Callie Kitchens and Sam Burrus tied for 13th at 233. Lee's Shea Sylvester tied for second at 213 in the 15-team men's event, and Adam Wright was 18th at 222 with Taylor Davis at 226.

* Dalton State's Julia McQuilken was the Southern States women's golfer of the week for her runner-up finish in the Golfweek NAIA Spring Invitational in Florida. Her 36-hole 147 included the only below-par round of the event, a 71. She was the medalist in the NAIA national tournament last year.

Softball

* Martin Methodist, ranked 13th in the NAIA, needed a two-run seventh inning to win 7-6 in the first game of Tuesday's softball doubleheader at Bryan and added a 2-1 in. Olivia Gore was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Lacye Walker also had two RBIs and Leslie Nunnelly was 2-for-3 for Bryan (17-17) in the first game. Walker was 2-for-2 and scored in the rematch, when Sydney West pitched a four-hitter.

* The Tennessee Wesleyan softball team is 18-13 overall, 13-5 in the AAC, after winning 6-3 and losing 6-5 Tuesday at Union College.

* Covenant lost 8-0, 8-0 in NCAA Division II softball Tuesday at 16th-ranked Birmingham-Southern. Covenant (14-17-1) totaled four hits.

* After completing a 3-1 weekend against TCCAA foe Southwest Tennessee with 12-5 and 14-12 wins Sunday, the Chattanooga State softball team lost 13-5 and won 10-9 Monday at Snead State. The Lady Tigers are 29-11.

Lacrosse

* Sewanee junior George Pratt was the Southern Athletic Association men's lacrosse defensive player of the week for his part in Saturday's 13-6 home win over Berry. Pratt caused three key turnovers and collected three groundballs as the Tigers (8-3, 5-0) took charge in the second half.
