SEC BOWL SCHEDULE
For the second time in three seasons, the Southeastern Conference has placed 12 of its 14 members in bowl games. Here is this year's SEC postseason schedule:
- Mississippi State vs. Miami (Ohio), St. Petersburg Bowl (Dec. 26): The Bulldogs had the second-best APR score among the 12 FBS teams that went 5-7.
- Vanderbilt vs. N.C. State, Independence Bowl (Dec. 26): This is a rematch of the 2012 Music City Bowl, which the Commodores won 38-24 to finish 9-4.
- Texas A&M vs. Kansas State, Texas Bowl (Dec. 28): This is a rematch of the 1998 Big 12 title game, which the Aggies won in double OT with Branndon Stewart.
- South Carolina vs. South Florida, Birmingham Bowl (Dec. 29): The Gamecocks have won four consecutive bowl games, the longest active streak in the SEC.
- Arkansas vs. Virginia Tech, Belk Bowl (Dec. 29): This is the first ACC foe for the Razorbacks since they lost to North Carolina in the 1995 Carquest Bowl.
- Georgia vs. TCU, Liberty Bowl (Dec. 30): Georgia coach Kirby Smart faces QB Kenny Hill for the first time since Alabama lambasted Texas A&M 59-0 in 2014.
- Tennessee vs. Nebraska, Music City Bowl (Dec. 30): The Vols allowed 73 points in their first two bowls against Nebraska. They've yielded 82 the past two games.
- LSU vs. Louisville, Citrus Bowl (Dec. 31): The Tigers may draw another Heisman Trophy winner after facing Derrick Henry, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, Mark Ingram and Tim Tebow in recent years.
- Kentucky vs. Georgia Tech, TaxSlayer Bowl (Dec. 31): With Kentucky reaching its first bowl since 2010, Missouri's two-year drought is now the SEC's longest.
- Alabama vs. Washington, Peach Bowl national semifinal (Dec. 31): Nick Saban earned $125,000 for winning the SEC and $200,000 for reaching the playoff.
- Florida vs. Iowa, Outback Bowl (Jan. 2): The Gators rank 115th in total offense, while the Hawkeyes are 120th, so expect more punts than Bloomin' Onions.
- Auburn vs. Oklahoma, Sugar Bowl (Jan. 2): Auburn has won (vs. Virginia Tech in 2004), lost (Florida State 1988) and tied (Syracuse 1987) in its last three Sugar trips.
