* Daniel Kennedy this week became the second Silverdale Baptist Academy student to receive a scholarship to fish in college. Kennedy, who won the FLW state high school tournament with teammate Braden Marshall last June, signed with Savannah College of Art and Design and coach Isaac Payne over Bryan College and UT-Martin, among others. "SCAD has an awesome fine arts program, and I want to go to school for industrial design," said Kennedy, who admitted that he didn't really think about an angling scholarship until former SBA teammate Cody Thomas got one from Bryan. "After the state last year was when doors really opened and coaches from different colleges started calling." Kennedy and Marshall, who's being recruited, began as freshmen with two other current Seahawks seniors who will be playing college football, Josh Brady and Hunter Arnold, as foundation pieces in Brent Brady's first year as fishing coach. "All four grew up fishing and they're real good outdoorsmen," said Coach Brady, who's had 30 years of professional tour experience. "They were ready for advanced teaching, and they've been mentors to the other members of the team." Specifically about Kennedy, the coach praised his "tremendous patience," passion for fishing and "very strong mental as well as physical aspect of the sport."
