Georgia's football season opener against North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta has sold out.

The Bulldogs and Tar Heels will vie Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN. Georgia and North Carolina have not met since the Liberty Bowl after the 1971 season, when Vince Dooley's Bulldogs topped brother Bill Dooley's Tar Heels 7-3.

This is the ninth and final season in which the Georgia Dome will house the Chick-fil-A Kickoff, with the event moving to the $1.6 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017.

"With two nationally ranked programs, both with incredibly high expectations for the season, facing off for the first time in decades on a national stage, we knew this matchup would sell out," said Gary Stokan, the president and CEO of the Peach Bowl. "This matchup is exactly what the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is all about - showcasing the nation's top teams on a national stage."

The Chick-fil-A Kickoff will serve as the 31st meeting overall between Georgia and North Carolina, with the Bulldogs holding a 16-12-2 advantage.

Each program will be looking for its first Chick-fil-A Kickoff triumph, with North Carolina having lost 30-24 to LSU in 2010 and Georgia having lost 35-21 to Boise State in 2011.
