Lee University's Bernadette Little was the medalist and her team finished second Tuesday in the Dancing Rabbit Intercollegiate golf tournament at Philadelphia, Miss. Little shot a 2-under-par 214 for 54 holes, and the Lady Flames' total was 893, five strokes behind Montevallo in the nine-team event. Lee's Sam Burrus tied for fifth individually at 225, and Callie Kitchens tied for seventh at 226 with Caroline Moore at 228.

* The Lee men's golf team wound up 11th out of 18 teams in the loaded Southeastern Collegiate tournament at Valdosta, Ga. Lee's Taylor Davis slipped to an 80 on Tuesday and finished at 221, while Peyton Sliger closed with a 71 for a 222 and Corey Sheppard, Shea Sylvester and Adam Wright shot 227, 228 and 229.

* The Georgia Northwestern men's golf team shot a third-round 294 Tuesday and finished sixth at 913 in the Stonebridge Invitational at Albany, Ga. The Bobcats' Chase Cole closed with a 69 while Grant Allen shot 73 and Lanier Guest, Jordan Estes and Tucker Venable had 76s Tuesday.

Baseball

* Lee University second baseman Tyler Payne from McCallie School was honored Tuesday as the Gulf South Conference baseball freshman of the week for his part in the Flames' winning series against North Alabama. Payne had four hits in eight plate appearances and drove in a run in the three games. He is batting .308 with a triple and seven RBIs in 10 games. Lee's scheduled game today at Stillman was canceled, but the Flames are meeting Columbus State in Cartersville, Ga., for a 5 p.m. game.

* Ben Jernigan was 2-for-4 with an RBI as Berry College edged host Covenant 3-2 in NCAA Division III baseball Tuesday. Pinch-runner Leo Narrison scored the deciding run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning. Z Arima was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Luke Harvey was 2-for-4 for Covenant (10-11), which used three pitchers while the Vikings (16-6) were using six.

* Bryan beat visiting Hiwassee 12-2 in college baseball Tuesday. Bryan is 18-7.

Softball

* Covenant beat Sewanee 15-1 and 15-2 in Division III softball Tuesday on Lookout Mountain. Madison Quirk was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for the Lady Scots (10-7-1) in the first game, when Shannon Schmitt was 1-for-1 with two walks and four runs scored and Jordan Brett and Kat Andrews each also had one official at-bat and two walks and batted in two runs. Schmitt and Kendall Whann each was 3-for-4 and matched Andrews, Morgan Lane and Madalyn Ames with two RBIs apiece in game two, when Shade Epes scored three runs. Sara Burklin, Rachel Hoffman and Mackenzie Hobbs had the day's RBIs for Sewanee (0-11).

* Bryan won 15-10 in nine innings and 5-4 at Point University in AAC softball Tuesday, and Tennessee Wesleyan lost 5-2 and won 2-1 at home against Truett-McConnell. Bryan is 13-7 overall, 8-2 in the AAC; Wesleyan is 8-9, 3-1.

* Georgia Highlands won 9-1 and 10-6 in junior college softball Tuesday at Cleveland State, dropping the Lady Cougars to 11-9 after a 9-0 season start. Caitlin Parks and Brianna Fickes homered and drove in three and two runs for Highlands in the first game, when Mallory Jackson also had three RBIs. Jackson was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs in the rematch.

* Chattanooga State's softball doubleheader rained out Monday at Snead State has been reset for April 4, starting at 3 p.m. EDT.

Tennis

* Dalton State freshman Edberg Espinoza from Venezuela was the SSAC men's tennis player of the week for March 7-13. Espinoza was 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 also in doubles with Joe Bray in two team victories, and he is 9-3 in singles and 10-2 in doubles for the season.

Lacrosse

* Frostburg State defeated Sewanee 11-3 in NCAA Division III men's lacrosse Monday night at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. No. 16 Frostburg improved to 8-0 as Chase Cullison scored four goals. Three players scored for the Tigers (3-3).
