Lee track teams finish second, sixth in Emory Invitational

The Lee University men's track and field team finished second to Rowan out of 29 entries in the Emory Invitational meet this past weekend in Atlanta, and the Lee women were sixth out of 34 teams.

Tennessee Wesleyan was 10th in the men's standings, with Cadarius Harris, Steven Dodd, Josh Parsons and Sheldon Wilson winning the 4x100-meter relay in 41.28 seconds, just ahead of the Lee quartet of Josiah and Justin Brooks, Stephen Cannon and Javon Jones in 41.41.

The Brooks twins, Adam Gullette and Emmanuel Kipchumba won the 4x400 in 3:17.80, and Kipchumba was second with Terris Elliott fourth in the 800, Seth Eagleson second in the 5,000 and Harold Smith third in the 1,500 and fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase with teammate Brandon Raleigh fifth in the 800. Justin Brooks was third with his brother fourth in the 400, and Josiah Brooks was fifth in triple jump.

Lee's Adrian Martin was second in the women's 100 and 200, Erin Fondren was second in the 10,000 and Jessica Childers and Audrey Smith were third in the 1,500 and 3,000 steeplechase, respectively. The Lady Flames' Moneque Beckford, Martin, Amanda Hegarty and Kiley Brock were third in the 4x100 relay, and Wesleyan's Ally McNulty was fourth in high jump with Rachel Lawhorn seventh in shot put and Leah Chance eighth in the 10k.

TWC's Chaz Hawkins was second in the men's 110 hurdles and sixth in the 400 hurdles, and the Bulldogs' Chris Gabez, Jacob Simmons, Bryce Choate and Jake Morgenstern were second in the 4x800 relay. Harris was fifth in the 100 and Dodd was sixth in the 200.

UTC women take third in distance medley relay

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga finished third and seventh in the women's distance medley relay Saturday at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa.

Maddison Melchionna, Kiaana Howard, Hannah Chamblin and Emily Drouin completed the DMR in 11:58.83, finishing behind only two Mississippi State teams. The winning foursome set a facility record of 11:27.97.

"Maddison ran an incredible 1200 to lead off," coach Bill Gautier said in a UTC release. "Hannah ran a 2:14 in the 800. With Kiaana in the 400 and Emily running the mile, they did a great job."

The Mocs' second team of Jessica York, Makala Diggs, Haley Morris and Anna Kate Chance finished in 12:47.34.
