Georgia sophomore defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter was arrested early Sunday morning by Athens-Clarke County police on misdemeanor charges of underage possession of alcohol and possession of false identification.

The 6-foot-4, 251-pounder from the Atlanta suburb of Tucker played in seven games last season, collecting four total tackles and a quarterback pressure. Ledbetter was rated by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN as a top-100 national prospect in the 2015 signing class.

According to the Athens-Clarke County jail booking report, Ledbetter was released on bonds totalling $3,000.

Student-athletes who are first-time violators of the university's alcohol policy draw a one-game suspension. The Bulldogs open the 2016 season Sept. 3 against North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta.

Georgia already has a sophomore defensive end on suspension due to a second marijuana-related arrest in December. Chauncey Rivers sat out Georgia's 24-17 victory over Penn State in the TaxSlayer Bowl and is expected to miss the first three games of the '16 season per university guidelines.

"Chauncey has been a university issue, so they're handling that," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said last week. "He'll go through spring as normal, and we know he'll have some stuff he's got to adhere to."

Smart did not provide immediate comment on the arrest of Ledbetter, who worked with the first-team defense during portions of Saturday's practice that were open to the media.
