UTC women on three-game skid

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team lost 49-39 to Maine on Sunday in its final game of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Classic at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.

The Mocs (3-5), who have dropped three straight for the first time since the 2011-12 season, face the University of Connecticut on Tuesday in Storrs, Conn. The second-ranked Huskies are four-time reigning national champions.

Lakelyn Bouldin led UTC with 11 points Sunday, while Jasmine Joyner had 10 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots, but the Mocs suffered through a second half in which they shot 33 percent from the field and turned the ball over nine times.

They led 11-4 after a quarter and 22-21 at halftime, but the Mocs missed nine of their first 11 shots of the second quarter. Meanwhile, Maine (3-4) made 10 of 12 shots in a stretch spanning the second and third quarters while taking the momentum and, after a Naira Caceres 3-pointer to start the third quarter, the lead.

The Black Bears went on a 16-0 run spanning the final two periods to take control of the game and pushed their lead to 14 at one point.

Sigi Koizar had 13 points to lead Maine, adding three assists and three steals. Laia Sole had 12 points, while Blanca Millan scored 10.
