The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Fall Classic softball tournament continues today at Warner Park after two rounds of games Friday evening. Also participating in the exhibition event hosted by the Lady Moc RBI Club are Chattanooga State, Cleveland State and Bryan College, and games today are set for 11 a.m. and 1, 3 and 5 p.m. with admission costing $5 (no charge for ages 12 and under). UTC plays at 11 and 1.

Tennis

* UTC is hosting its 34th annual Steve Baras Fall Classic tennis tournament at the Champions Club, and the UTC men's players had six wins Friday while Sydney Patton won two singles matches and Samantha Caswell, Caroline Hall and Rachele Gazzola joined her with singles and doubles wins against Jacksonville State for the female Mocs. The women were 8-4 for the day. Freshman Simon Bustamante recorded two three-set wins in the men's No. 2 singles bracket, over Eastern Kentucky's Dan Lineberry and Kennesaw State's Sam Slade, and Pablo Llebeili won a third-set tiebreaker over EKU's Romain Stoffels in No. 3 singles. UTC freshman Max Grobbelaar won 6-4, 6-4 in No. 5 singles, and Michael Birnbaum won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 7. The Mocs got a doubles win from Birnbaum and Grobbelaar.

Volleyball

* UTC defeated visiting East Tennessee State 3-1 in a Southern Conference volleyball match Friday evening. The set scores were 26-28, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20. Kristy Wieser had 19 kills and Allie Davenport had 15 kills and 15 digs for the Mocs (8-7, 1-1), and Rachel Petkosh had 24 digs. Miranda Elpers and Eden Murray added nine kills each, Elpers with 12 digs, and Lauren Greenspoon and Madison Bergren had 29 and 25 assists and 14 and 10 digs.

* Despite 13 and 12 kills by Silvia Sartori and Brooke Wilsman, Lee University lost 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 26-24) in Gulf South volleyball Friday night at West Georgia. Sadie Johnson and Kristi Farley had 16 and 15 assists and MaKayla Beebe had 20 digs for Lee (4-7, 1-5).

* Dalton State lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-18) Friday to visiting Coastal Georgia and is 4-10, 3-6 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. Anna Metzler led the Roadrunners in kills with six; Cassandra Cox had 10 assists.

* Covenant College lost 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) to Meredith and won 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-15) over Ferrum in USA South matches Friday at Raleigh, N.C. Morgan Opgenorth made 11 kills, Schuyler Moore had 30 assists and 12 digs and Emily Moore and Hannah Stewart had 12 and 11 digs against Meredith (13-2, 5-0) for the Lady Scots (7-9, 4-2), who got 14 kills from Hannah Harris and 19 assists with nine digs from Moore against Ferrum (5-14, 1-5).

Soccer

* Hannah Torbett's first-half goal from a Peyton McCollum assist held up for a 1-0 UTC win over The Citadel in SoCon soccer Friday night at Finley Stadium. Torbett scored at 26:39 from just outside the box for the Mocs (4-7-1, 2-1). They had a 10-9 edge in shots over the Bulldogs (3-7, 0-3), and Katie Emig made five saves.

* Lauren Peters' two second-half scores gave the sixth-ranked Lee women a 2-0 Gulf South win Friday at Christian Brothers, where the Lee men (6-3, 1-0) won 2-1 on first-half goals by Quade Marinell and Samaan Williams from assists by Drew Jackson and Arturo Rocha. McKenzie Bricker assisted on Peters' first goal for the Lady Flames (6-1-1, 3-0).

* Callie Bader and Riley Battenfield scored as Covenant's women won 2-1 in USA South soccer at Wesleyan in Macon, Ga. Summer Bader assisted on her sister's first-half goal for the Lady Scots (7-2, 5-1). The Covenant men lost 4-1 at Maryville with Jesse Riggs scoring the visitors' goal in the 1,000th match for Pepe Fernandez as Maryville's men's and women's head coach. He's a former Tennessee Wesleyan star and Chattanooga high school coach.

Golf

* Both Dalton State golf teams are ranked in the NAIA top 10 for the first time. The female Roadrunners are No. 6 in the first poll of 2016-17, while the men are No. 7. They finished seventh and 11th last year.
