University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Kristy Wieser was announced Monday as the Southern Conference volleyball offensive player of the week after her 19 and 15 kills with .447 and .500 attack percentages in weekend wins over East Tennessee State and Mercer. She ranks third in the conference with a .316 hitting percentage.

* Bryan College senior Shelby Enochs was the Appalachian Athletic Conference's volleyball setter of the week for the second time this season after totaling 118 assists in three matches with 11.8 per set. She had 45 assists in a 3-0 win at St. Andrews and also totaled 28 digs. Bryan had two other AAC athletes of the week in goalkeeper Alex Horton for men's soccer defense and Tyler Boone for men's cross country. Horton had two shutouts for the 13th-ranked Lions, including a 1-0 overtime win over No. 22 Cumberland, and ranks fifth in the NAIA with a 0.390 goals-against average. Boone was 11th out of more than 300 runners in the Greater Louisville Classic meet that included many from NCAA Division I; his time for the 8-kilometer course was 25:36.

* Dalton State's Rury Alvarez was the Southern States Athletic Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week.

Golf

* The UTC men's golfers shot their best 36-hole total of the season Monday and are in eighth place at 576 in the Firestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club's North Course in Akron, Ohio. Illinois State leads the 16-team field at 562. UTC seniors Wes Gosselin and Brooks Thomas shot 141 and 142 in the two rounds and are tied for 12th and 18th individually, while Stuart Thomas, Andrew Weathers and Lake Johnson are at 146, 149 and 153.

* Cristina Perez shot a 3-under-par 69 Monday for the UTC women's golf team at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, S.C., and the Mocs totaled 294 for a two-round 585 and a tie for 13th place with Penn State, one shot behind North Carolina State in the 21-team field. Furman leads at 558, one better than North Carolina. Perez is tied for 18th individually at 142, and Mocs teammate Monica San Juan is at 149 with Holly Morgan at 150, Maddy McDaniel at 151 and Megan Woods at 155 after a 73 Monday.

* Lee University's Shea Sylvester is fourth individually at 6-under-par 138, and the Flames are the ninth-place team after two rounds of the 18-team NCAA Division II Preview at the Reunion Watson Course in Reunion, Fla. Lee is at 579 with Matt Johnson at 146, Adam Wright at 147 and Corey Sheppard and Dylan Lillard at 149. Lynn University leads at 560.

* The Dalton State women's golf team is in a three-way for first place with SCAD Savannah and host USC-Beaufort after Monday's opening round in the 36-hole Sand Shark Shootout at Palm Harbor, Fla. Those teams each shot 306 and are three strokes ahead of Keiser. Freshman Tia Tieniketo from Baylor School led NAIA seventh-ranked Dalton State with a 74, while past All-American Caroline Griffin had a 76. Dalton State is fourth at 591, five strokes behind leader Southeastern, after two of the three rounds in the men's Sand Shark. The Roadrunners' S.M. Lee is tied for fourth individually at 143, while Chase Cole is tied for ninth at 147 and Dalton Johnson, Ben Rebne, Adam Morris and Sport Allmond are at 149, 151, 152 and 153.

* Sewanee freshmen Tommy Oliver and Gray Matthews shot a 73 and a 74, respectively, Monday and are tied for 22nd and 33rd individually after the first day of the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational golf tournament at Flowery Branch, Ga. Sewanee is 11th as a team, and George Hite shot a 77 playing as an individual.

Field Hockey

* Sewanee goalkeeper Katya Waters was the Southern Athletic Association field hockey defensive player of the week after averaging 13.5 saves in weekend matches at Rhodes and Hendrix. She saved 90 percent of the shots taken against her, and she had a goals-against average of 1.50. She's third in the SAA in fewest goals allowed and in GAA.
