Makale Foreman supports his brother Malik, a defensive back for the University of Tennessee, in everything he does.

Yet if the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team defeats the Volunteers in the season opener on Nov. 11 in Knoxville, the younger brother will not soon let big brother forget it.

Makale Foreman is one of three true freshmen for the Mocs this season. It's his third basketball team in the last three seasons. After a standout career at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tenn., the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder spent a season at Hargrave Military Academy and averaged 16 points, three rebounds and two assists a game as the team went 47-1.

At Dobyns-Bennett he scored more than 1,000 points in three seasons and was the 2015 Big Seven player of the year.

"Going to prep school helped me develop my game some more," Foreman said recently. "It got me ready for this situation I'm about to come up on this season.

"I believe we should have a good season this year."

He could find a role as a shooter for the Mocs this season, as he has connected on 3s in each of the team's two closed scrimmages and is a hard-nosed player. Coach Matt McCall said Foreman has been "a little bit of a pleasant surprise."

"He's fearless, completely fearless, when he steps out on the floor," McCall said. "He's a guy that's tough, not afraid to put his body in plays, and he can really, really shoot. He can change the game with his ability to shoot."

That ability could help him get on the court.

"My shooting ability and my ability to make winning plays," he said. "I'm willing to take a charge or do what my team wants me to do."
