Vols softball team defeats Alabama

No. 14 Tennessee pushed its softball winning streak to 18 games and earned a second straight walk-off win against No. 9 Alabama when Brooke Vines homered in Sunday's 2-0 victory at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Vines' homer to center field came with no one out in the bottom of the seventh and also scored Sheridan Allen, who was pinch-running for Meghan Gregg after Gregg drew a leadoff walk on a full count.

Tennessee starter Matty Moss (20-1) allowed four hits and three walks while striking out seven, and she sprinted toward the backstop to catch the popup induced with an Alabama runner on third base and two out in the top of the seventh.

The Volunteers (39-5, 11-3 Southeastern Conference) were held to three hits, but Alabama (36-9, 10-7) left seven runners on base.
