Sometimes stats don't tell the whole story.

That was the case Saturday in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball game against UT-Martin - and this time it worked in the Mocs' favor.

Led by 69 points from the Gilbert sisters and Lakelyn Bouldin, UTC overcame a five-point deficit with 1:35 to play in the fourth quarter and won 87-82 in overtime at McKenzie Arena.

It was the Mocs' sixth consecutive win. They're off until a week from today, when they play the second game of a doubleheader at home against Virginia Tech. The UTC men host Charlotte at 1 that afternoon.

UTC's women won Saturday despite allowing 82 points, the most given up in a win since a 93-88 defeat of Wofford on Jan. 2, 2011. The Skyhawks shot 60 percent from the floor and made nine of 12 3-point attempts, but UTC forced 15 turnovers that were converted into 25 points.

"I think we played better and shared the ball as a team in overtime," said Bouldin, who had nine of her 23 points in the extra period. "In overtime we just grinded a little bit more."

Aryanna Gilbert fell one shy of her career high with 25 points, adding eight rebounds and five assists. Bouldin made five 3-pointers, while Keiana Gilbert had 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Mocs shot 52 percent from the field and made a season-high 11 3s, as they assisted on 21 of their 31 baskets. The 87 points were a season high.

The Skyhawks led 21-11 after a quarter, making 80 percent of their shots in the first 10 minutes. The Mocs started cutting into the lead, making 10 of their 13 second-quarter attempts to cut the lead to 37-34, then used an 11-3 run in the third to take a five-point lead. UT-Martin responded with an 8-2 spurt to end the quarter out in front and led 73-68 after a couple of Janekia Mason free throws with 95 seconds to play, but five consecutive Keiana Gilbert points, including a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left, forced overtime.

"Very rarely do you do what we did against Auburn and get up 16-0, but through the course of the season you play games like that and games like this," UTC coach Jim Foster said. "Their kid (Kendall Spray) made a couple of shots on switches she shouldn't have gotten that were mistakes, and we didn't let that bother us.

"We started to guard the stuff that was hurting us early. We took the post game away from them, and I think that made a big difference."

Spray led the Skyhawks (3-4) with 20 points, adding seven rebounds. She made all but one of her five 3-point attempts. Mason and Chelsey Perry scored 16 each, while Emanye Robertson had 13 points and six assists. Maddie Waldrop had 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
