Sewanee's Bella Taylor reached 1,000 points for her collegiate career as she helped the Tigers beat Wooster (Ohio) 69-56 Friday night in the opening game of the Sewanee Holiday Classic. Taylor, a junior, had 999 points entering the game and reached the milestone by scoring the game's first basket, a layup from the right side 45 seconds after tipoff. Taylor led all scorers with 24 points, while teammate Hannah McCormack had 22 with seven rebounds, Allison Hitchcock had eight points and nine rebounds and Sue Kim totaled eight assists for Sewanee (3-5), which led 23-21 after the first quarter, was tied at 32 at halftime and up 46-43 entering the final period before pulling away with an 11-1 run in a little more than three minutes. Wooster (2-10) was led by 15 points and six steals from Anna Gibbs.

-Bekah Walter scored 12 points and Kaley Hallmark 10 as Covenant lost 59-41 to Centre in Friday's late game at the Sewanee Holiday Classic. The Lady Scots (4-5) led 12-0 a little more than three minutes into the game and 16-6 with 1:45 to go in the first quarter, but Centre (9-1) had closed the gap to 27-23 by halftime and surged by outscoring Covenant 23-5 in the third quarter. Centre's bench outscored Covenant 30-2, with substitute Lakken Miller's 14 points supporting leading scorer Kat Wilson, who had 15.

-Adrian Thomas had 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting and nine rebounds as Sewanee's men lost 62-59 at Westminster (Mo.) on Friday night. Cam Caldwell and Luke Smith each added 11 points for the Tigers (4-5), who led 28-18 at halftime and nearly won despite a second-half charge by Westminster (7-3), which was led by Cody Shaw's 16 points. Caldwell made two free throws to cut the Blue Jays' lead to 59-57 with 36 seconds left, but the Tigers got no further.

-Carnilious Simmons registered 20 points and 14 rebounds as one of four Dalton State College players who scored in double figures, and host DSC rolled to a 78-59 victory against Cumberland University in the Roadrunner Classic on Friday night at Mashburn Arena. Reed Dungan added 18 points, Mon'Darius Black 12 and Sean Chisolm 11 for the Roadrunners (9-3), who outrebounded the Phoenix 46-36 and led 48-24 at halftime. Diondrey Hlt Jr. had 12 points, Juandrico Walker 10 points and nine rebounds and Reid Pierce 10 points for Cumberland (6-6).

-Chattanooga's Richard Spangler and Ashley Holmes teamed for a third-place net scoring finish Friday in the Parent-Child division at the Leon Sikes Team Championship at Atlantis (Fla.) Country Club. Their 69 was a stroke behind two Florida teams - Carole and Ryan Howison of Boynton Beach and Jupiter, respectively, and David and Shanique Smith of West Palm Beach. Those teams had their tie broken by matching cards, with the Howisons winning in the 27-team field.
