ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia signed six offensive linemen this morning, and each of them said farewell to 300 pounds a long time ago.

"I am very pleased with the size of that group," Bulldogs second-year coach Kirby Smart said this morning. "Some of them have to be careful that they don't get too big, because for them to come in and be successful, they're going to have to move."

The Bulldogs this morning signed D'Antne Demery (6-foot-6, 312), Justin Shaffer (6-4, 350), Netori Johnson (6-4, 334), Isaiah Wilson (6-7, 350), Andrew Thomas (6-5, 338) and D'Marcus Hayes (6-5, 330).

Wilson is a five-star prospect from Brooklyn, N.Y., while Hayes played this past season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

"It was mandatory that we signed enough depth there," Smart said, "because I'm a big believer in having depth on the offensive and defensive line positions, and we were lacking the depth we need. The quality of player will still be determined, because we'll have to develop a lot of these young men and get them better.

"A lot of them aren't going to be used to the speed of play."
