That didn't take long.

Less than 24 hours after the University of Georgia confirmed the departure of defensive line coach Tracy Rocker, the Bulldogs snagged Ole Miss defensive line coach Tray Scott as his successor. Scott was hired just last month by Rebels coach Hugh Freeze after working the past two seasons as North Carolina's defensive line coach.

Georgia opened the Kirby Smart era last September with a 33-24 win over North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome.

"Tray Scott is leaving our staff for another opportunity," Freeze said Wednesday in a statement he posted on Twitter. "We want coaches who are 100-percent committed to winning championships at Ole Miss. Our student-athletes, our staff and Rebel Nation deserve that, and that is what we will bring to this great program."

Multiple media outlets reported Scott's change in location, but Georgia had not confirmed it as of Wednesday evening.

Scott helped North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, the former Auburn head coach, lead the Tar Heels to the top statistical turnaround in the country during the 2015 season. The Tar Heels yielded 14.5 fewer points per game compared to the 2014 season and reached the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game, which they lost to undefeated and top-ranked Clemson.

North Carolina's defensive front accounted for 19 of its team's 23 sacks in 2015, and defensive tackle Nazair Jones earned All-ACC honors each of the past two seasons.

A 2008 graduate of Arkansas Tech, Scott arrived at North Carolina after spending two seasons as defensive line coach at UT-Martin.
