College Roundup: Lee teams sweep West Georgia

Despite shooting only 34.3 percent from the field, the Lee University women's basketball team won handily in its final home game of the regular season Saturday, 60-44 over West Georgia. The Lee men then won 82-72.

The Lady Flames held the visitors to 29.2 percent shooting in the Gulf South Conference game and got 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots from Carrie Cheeks and 10 points, four assists and two blocks from Lindsey Roddy. Haley Cornellison also had eight rebounds for Lee (19-7, 14-6), which is tied for second place.

Levi Woods led the Flames (11-15, 7-13) with 17 points, including four 3-point baskets, and nine rebounds, while Jervon Johnson scored 15 points, Keevin Tyus tallied 14 and Cody Farley had eight rebounds and five assists. Staying alive for a GSC tournament spot, Lee led 31-16 with seven minutes to go in the first half and 67-42 with 10:27 left in the game.

- Covenant 91, Piedmont 64: At Covenant, the Scots clinched a spot in the USA South men's tournament with the runaway win featuring 58.2 percent shooting. Patjo Twagirayezu was 5-for-7 on 3s and totaled 23 points for Covenant (14-11, 7-7), while Will Portlock had 17 points and five assists and Caleb Haynes had 16 points and eight rebounds.

- Bryan 70, Truett-McConnell 69: At Dayton, Oteriah Lee had 25 points and four assists and Terrance Scales had 14 points and five steals in the Appalachian Athletic Conference win for the Lions (10-19, 6-14), who trailed by 16 points with 10 minutes to go. Lee put them ahead at 62-61 and 66-65, got them within 69-68 at 0:45 and hit the winning basket with nine seconds left.

- Bryan (w) 85, Truett-McConnell 57: The Lady Lions rose to 14-14, 12-10 in the AAC, as Megan Billingsby had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Amber Levi scored 20 points with five 3s.

- Tennessee Wesleyan 90, Montreat 89: At Athens, Tre Tiller had 22 points and seven assists and Jordan Hall scored 19 points on 5-of-8 3-point shooting as the Bulldogs pulled out the slim AAC win.

- Tennessee Wesleyan (w) 63, Montreat 51: The Bulldogs won with balance with Gina Dick leading the scoring with 13 points and Lindsey Macon grabbing nine rebounds amd matching Madison Walkup's three steals.

- Sewanee 77, Centre 73: At Sewanee, the Tigers won the Southern Athletic Association game with four 3s and 23 points from Jorden Williams, 14 points from Clay Born, 12 from Adrian Thomas and 11 plus nine rebounds and four assists from Brody Stone.

- Centre (w) 73, Sewanee 66: The Tigers lost the SAA game despite 31 points from Bella Taylor and 15 from Allison Hitchcock. Sue Kim had four steals in defeat.

- Warren Wilson 85, Georgia Northwestern 58: At Rossville, GNTC's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, Darrius Fugh, ended the regular season with a game of 27 points and 10 rebounds, but the North Carolina school got 21 points from Kenrick Nesbit and 20 from Jordan Gann.
